How do I find the MAC address on the AAO?

I have our wireless network security stuff set to only allow access to certain MAC addresses, but I don't see one on the bottom of my AAO. How do I find it?

    Thanks!

Once you try to access the network...it will show up in the log of your router/access point.

One way in Linux, via the terminal, is to run:
    Code:
    /sbin/ifconfig
Then look for 'HWaddr' in the section for the wireless adapter. Example:
    Code:
    ath0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:AA:11:BB:2C:D3
              inet addr:192.168.0.27 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
              ....

I'm sorry, I should have said I'm using the linux version. I don't how to get to the log of my router/access point.

yodersj - I don't know how to get to the terminal on my AAO either, but I guess that information is somewhere on this site.

I assume you have another pc connected that router ? If so just type in your browser 192.168.1.1 or whatever address your router has been configured with...that will give you access to the router's logs and configuration.

You can access the terminal one of two ways in Linpus:
Method 1) Press [Alt]+[F2]. In the "run" dialog that appears type in "terminal" (without the quotes).

Method 2) Files -> My Documents, to open the file manager. Then from the File menu, in the file manager, pick "Terminal"

The Aspire One running Linplus will report your MAC addresses as follows:

    1. Go to Settings (cog in lower right of desktop)

    2. select Network Center

    3. highlight the name of any wireless network listed

    4. select the EDIT button

    5. select the Summary tab

This will report the interface, speed, driver and the hardware MAC address.

If you want the MAC of your Ethernet card highlight the LAN at step 3 then follow steps 4 and 5.

    Argon.
