Hi all, I need some help on if the Aspire One is right for me.

I will be using the following programs:

    FCE Ultra
    SNES9x
    Project64
    VisualBoyAdvance
    BGB
    Winamp
Microsoft Math (won't be doing a ton of 3D graphing)
    Microsoft Outlook
    Safari for Windows

I will be running usually 3-4 programs at one time at most.
I'm planning on getting the one with 120GB (On this 80GB Desktop, I've only used 25-ish GB, so disk space isn't a issue.)
Also, how easy is it to upgrade the RAM? Is there a door with a couple of screws, or do I have to open the entire netbook up?
Also, how easy is it to use the touchpad after using a laptop touchpad for 1-ish years?
And is there any tweaks I should do after getting it? (I'm coming over from the NC10 community forums after deciding that the Sammy wasn't for me)

Thanks for letting me pester you. :p

P.S. Mods, if this is in the incorrect board, then feel free to move it.

EDIT: I found this netbook for 298US$ on Walmart, good deal?

You'll have to tear the thing apart to upgrade the RAM. For some people it's no problem. For others like myself it's nerve-wracking and potentially fatal (for the computer, that is). The touchpad isn't that bad, but I always use a mouse just the same.

Thank you for the quick reply! :)

I also saw a video review on amazon just recently, and the guy ran a stress test of running the following programs at once:

    Dreamweaver
    Micrsoft Word
    Winamp with Milkdrop Visualizer
Window Media Player 11 (aka Molasses) (running a video)

There was no freezes, slowdowns, skips, or anything else! I'm convinced it meets my criteria. :)

I know this thread Is kind of old but.
I've tried some emulators, They ran great. Even with an unmodded one.
The One runs Project 64 almost flawlessly,
I've ran these noteable roms at 1024x600
"Conkers Bad Fur day", (The rom has issues of it's own though. SO some lagging is expected on that opening where he walks in the bar, and that matrix mode is bad with the emulator)
"Maio Golf" (RAN GREAT, pj64 even notes it for High System requirement.)
    "Donkey Kong 64" ran great.
I ran these with the default plugins set at HIGH settings.

So there's my advice on PJ64.
I also ran VisualBoy Advance flawlessly. At multiple settings running GBA games, it ran them flawlessly!
    I ran Driv3r
    Grand Theft Auto advance
    and a bunch more

If your interested I tried out EPSXE and some other PSX emulators with Metal Gear Solid. It ran it great. I wouldn't recommend jacking the settings all the way up though.

Even though the thread is old, Thanks for confirming my findings!

BTW, Pj64 runs on my desktop:

    80GB Western-Digitial Caviar
    2x 256MB RAM
    1.3Ghz AMD Duron
    GeForce 2 MX/MX 400

It very, very, very rarely freezes for a instant, then starts again, though. Not terrible, but can be a tad annoying. XD

Just one piece of advice real quick. change the thermal grease. The stuff in their is inferior and when runnig huge tasks the atom can get HOT!

It the Intel Atom splits, would it create an atomic blast?

    Thermal Grease? :?

To be honest, today I learned about radioactive decay in science class. I don't want to even THINK about what would happen to the Intel Atom when it splits!
