I had this problem with an AAO150 which was at 512mb of memory with nothing installed in the memory expansion slot.

As soon as I installed either a 512mb or 1gb stick of memory, no more blue screens during installs.

Check what the bios is reporting for installed memory?

if the hard drive is not working, the 'solution' is to replace it.
