Ok i'm looking for an answer to fix this once and for all.

Basically when playing music or videos on my AAO (HDD model) every so often the media pauses for 2-4 seconds before continuing

This is annoying enough with music but is exceptionally annoying on video.

Now there must be a fix to this problem, does anyone have any idea?

I haven't noticed a problem with audio files or DVDs, but Ubuntu simply does not do flash acceptably. Throw in a low powered Acer and it really becomes horrible. Check out the Ubuntu forums for literally hundreds of posts about flash.

it's not just flash its audio mp3, flac etc..

I have reinstalled ubuntu and its just the same, so there is obviously some kind of setup problem in ubuntu.

Its almost like the hdd turns off for a second or needs to wake up.
