I installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 on my Aspire One, and everything worked right out of the box.
But there is ONE thing: There is no buttons for maximize/minimize/quit in the upper right corner of the windows.

How can I get these buttons available ?

    Hi Pilsener,

Do you have a window manager running or you just get the programs windows without any frame?

I'm not quite sure what a window manager is (I'm a noob to Linux)

    Here's a screenshot:

That is a feature of UNR. There is a process running called maximus which automatically maximises the window and removes the title bar to increase usable space on the small screen. There is a close button that is shown on your screenshot. You can control how maximus works via gconf.
