Basically, every time I launch Messenger it reverts to sorting my contacts by Groups (Favourites, Non-IM, Other etc.) which is irritating as I don't use groups to sort my contacts, so each time I have to go and change it so the program sorts my contacts by Status or IM service.

Is there a way to get it to always start with one of these two?

And this brings up another thing, Messenger refuses to hide my offline contacts when I have it set to sort my contacts by 'Status', so is there a way to do any of the following...

Have offline contacts minimised by default when I load the program?
Have offline contacts listed underneath online contacts?
Or simply have offline contacts hidden (which Messenger won't do)?

These are assuming it's possibly to get Messenger to start with Status as the default way of sorting contacts.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

    Thanks
