    Installed Samsung 1Gb PC2-6400 (M470T2864QZ3-CF7) today, ran memtest86+ and it works faultlessly. Cost me £9.50 delivered :mrgreen:

    The Kingston 2GB 533MHz DDR2 RAM is working well so far in the AOD250. $51 on amazon prime here Kingston HyperX 2GB. There are some reviews on newegg and amazon reviews.

    Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

    Kingston RMN2-800/1G - DDR2 200 Pin SO-DIMM
    Compatible
    800MHz (PC6400)
    667MHz (PC5300)
    533MHz (PC4200)

    Working fine in my AOA 110. Now RAM is 1.5 Gb for both Linpus and BIOS.

    In my first attempt, the computer was dead (only some lights on and fan noise for a few seconds and then everything off). Then I removed the RAM from the socket and put it again more carefully. This time everything OK. I think most problems reported here are due to a bad conection of the RAM (it is not easy to insert it).

    I suggest to test the computer (put it on, let the SO start, check and put it off), every time you re-connect something to check it is working.

    -> After installing the RAM module. You put it on, and then you get a message of missing hard disk.
    -> After reconnecting the disk, you can check that the connection is good by the same method. If the disk is OK, then the linpus is loaded and with your mouse you can switch off the computer. (NO keyboard yet).
    -> After reconnecting the wifi card...
    -> After reconnecting the sound...
    -> After reconnecting the touchpad...
    -> After reconnecting the keyboard...
    It makes everything slower but more sure.

    Aspire one D250-1165 removed old installed Curcial CT25664AC800 • DDR2 PC2-6400 2gb single stick rebooted checked BIOS. Rebooted into windows. Everythings fine I actually think its faster start up. Multi tasking is diffently faster. I'm pretty happy with it just wish I could share more memory for video or it had better video. But what do you expect for $300 Right

    Re: Dead Thread Revived NEED USER INPUT - RAM Compatibility List

    Okay, have restructured the OP to reflect what RAM is working in what model of AAO. So it should solve a bit of the "worked for me" and "worked for you but not for me" problem.

    I've created the list in the OP based on signatures from posts here. However most of you don't have a signature, or didnt mention which model you've upgraded, so I've done the best I can. I'm sure there's going to be a few errors there, and I know I've definately had to skip a few RAM models.

    But this is why we need your user input. Hopefully the re-structure will get the ball rolling again on this one.

    P.S. As usual I'm open to suggestion, so anything you'd like to see in the list will be considered and possibly added.

    Cool that it's working, but could you let us know the model number of the RAM module? then the list in the 1st post can be updated for reference. Thanks.

    Kingston KVR800D2S6/2G (2GB DDR2 PC2-6400S 800MHz CL6 SODIMM) works with Acer Aspire One AO532h-2527, and is listed as compatible with the rest of the 532h series.

    Re: Dead Thread Revived NEED USER INPUT - RAM Compatibility

    Successfully upgraded the RAM in my AAO 110. 512mb just wasn't cutting it with XP.

    I used a 512mb module of Kingston RAM, since it was lying around at no extra cost.

    Details: Kingston KVR533D2S4/512 1.8V (I think some sites list it as "Value RAM" but I'm not sure)

    This module was NOT listed anywhere as compatible, but the 1024mb D2S4/1G module with the same specs was, and my module's package specifically said 1.8V, which from what I was able to learn is the reason why some Kingston modules cause major problems, as some are 1.9V or 2.0V. So long as the part # ends in a /(module size #) like /512 or /1G, it seemed reasonable that it should work.

    I just ran memtext86 from a boot CD. Latest version, which is 3.5 for single core processors. Took just over 20 minutes, and returned ZERO errors.

    Also, for anyone who might find themselves in a similar predicament, stripping the screw which holds the WiFi module isn't the end of the world. I completely wrecked that screw, but was able to slide the mainboard out of the case by pulling it away from the module, and then replaced it the same way. The only extra step is removing two additional screws that hold down the top left corner of the mainboard, and removing the video cable connector in the top left. The two screws hold down a metal bracket that is also the screen hinge. I heard some PCB creaking, but I was gentle.

    Next step is to replace the 8gb SSD...

    I have an AAO 532h-2588, and installed a Patriot 2GB PC2-6400 800MHz CL6 SODIMM (PSD22G8002S). The new module passes Microsoft's Memory Diagnostic Tool and works fine as long as I don't restart. If I restart Windows 7 Starter, the BIOS and then Windows report only 1GB. I am able to regain full use of the 2GB by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery (while also disconnected from AC power). Note that hibernate-resume and shutdown-powerup retain use of the full 2GB, so only restart (direct through the menu or indirect through a program) shows the bug.

    Are others seeing this? Perhaps this is a bug in the Restart of Windows 7 Starter? Perhaps related to the fact that initially, Microsoft planned to restrict Windows 7 Starter to 1GB, and relented only under heavy pressure from customers and the industry?

    Hi:

    Purchased two AAO 532h 2588 from Target for $199 each one week ago. Ordered one of the following from Crucial's website, which arrived yesterday:

    2GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module
    Crucial part number: CT1211511
    Specs: DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64

    Dropped the memory in, powered up the AAO, and success! No need to flash BIOS.

    Have ordered the identical memory stick for the second AAO and expect the same success.

    I have successfully installed 1GB card of Elixir 800mhz on an AOA150. I believe the model number is M2N1G64TUH8D5F-AC.

    I realize the 800 is most likely downclocking to 533, so kind of an overkill. But I took this out of my Asrock ION HTPC, which came with two sticks of this. I can upgrade that to 4GB and use the two 1GB sticks in mine and my wife's aspire one.
