I have the Acer Aspire One with 1gb memory and Windows XP. When I attempt to run Max Payne it crashes right in the middle of the cutscene either when the helicopter zooms past the screen or when it zooms into the police cruiser. I updated the game and I even tried to update the video card software and it still crashes. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Very common problem, you could have googled the solution in 3 seconds.

Update the game using the 1.05 patch. It will run fine after that.

Then I am rendered flabbergasted. Sure the patching went well? It's working 100% fine for me...

OK I just reinstalled the patch and it appears to be working now. Maybe the patch installed incorrectly the first time but it seems to be working now. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
