Mandriva 2009 VLC Divx issue

I dunno if anybody else is experiencing this, but I cannot seem to play any DIVX using the VLC player. Both on KDE and GNOME desktops. Install did not bring up any errors at all. Program launches normally. But when I open a DIVX avi file... poof VLC just closes without any error messages. :?:

 

I normally use totem to play DivX...just run

urpmi totem-xine

to install totem xine package.

 

Thanks for the reply. I found the solution. It's compiz that's messing up the playback. I didn't realize that it was not just DIVX but all video playback that's having problems. The solution is to set the video output of VLC to X11. All is well again. Thanks.
