Got my new Aspire One (Linux) and checked it out for awhile and then selected Liveupdate. It went through it just fine and installed all the updates... no problems. Restarted it and then attempted to run Liveupdate again and I get:

    Error
Could not connect to the upate server

    1. Check to see if the network cable is properly inserted
    2. Check your network status

The cable is plugged in, I can connect to the internet through the brower, etc., etc. Has anyone run into this before?

    Thanks for any help.

I had this problem yesterday. Seems like Acer just released a critical update patch today - maybe the server was messed up (in addition to the other problems I had after installing the patch!).

Anyway I tried again today and it works fine. I cleared the liveupdate folder using this method and restarted liveupdate...

    Good luck!

Check your network manager. some critical updates might have deleted your connections.

Hi guys, I think this is an issue caused by the network you're on. This problem pops up again when I use the internet at my office. It is fine when I use internet at home. I suggest using a different network or try to reconfigure your network.

Reconfigure my network to what? I'm on a 1000+ user network with 13 Windows and Netware servers and over 400 workstations and peripherals. I can't exactly "reconfigure" my network.

I've tested at both my work and college. I guess they are secured for whatever protocol the AAO uses for updates. I'll try it at home tonight.

Live Update worked previously on my home wireless network, and now doesn't .... no changes were made to the network. The same unhelpful "Could not connect to the update server" error message with no further clue as to the cause (and yes, of course I have internet connectivity! ).

I have tried updating via wireless network at home, via wired network bypassing the router altogether, via other wireless access points, but the only time live update has worked was over a wired network in a hotel bedroom hundreds of K's away. Just a bit OTT going back just to run update!

I think it's down to the Acer update site being down most of the time ... I mean, has anyone been able to do a successful update in the last few days? Or perhaps a recent update broke Live Update itself !!!

I tried to use LiveUpdate on 26/9 - also no good. I don't have home wireless so went to a public wifi site and I wondered if that was the problem. But maybe the Aspire One is so popular that Acer can't keep up with demand.
