    are you trying to install the server or the viewer. If you're installing the viewer linpus has a vnc viewer that works with tight vnc in its add remove programs utility. Thats what I use. (I use tight vnc server)

    i got remote to work via Rdesktop.

    For windows users: its not so difficult to use, since we where using windows for Remote desktop and we know the interface to well, this is a little bit more tricky.

    Press Alt F2

    Type: rdesktop -g 1024x600 ip_address_of_you_windows_rdp

    and press enter, you should be connected.

    good luck!

    I find the A1 to be a great little machine. While my intention was to use it mainly to surf the web and emailing while traveling, I have found it to be very good for other uses. In my case, I have my main windows vista desk top upstairs and sometime I need to do or check something on it without having to go upstairs. To do this I installed tight vnc and cranked up the WinVNCServer on my desktop (see http://www.tightvnc.com/ for download and instructions).
    I then install VNC on the A1 using the following steps:.

    Right Click on the desktop and select Sytem -> Add/Remove Software.
    Enter your root password when prompted to. Select vnc-4.1.2.24.fc8.i386 from the list and press the Apply button.
    Open the files manager and enter '.config/fce4/desktp' and hit the 'Enter' key.
    Right click on the group-app.xml file and slect MousePad to edit it.
    (This XML file is use to control what is displayed on the desk top.)
    Look for the '<group>' tag that is followed by the '<id>5<id>' tag.
    This is the group for the Connections panel on the desktop.
    Look for the next <group>' tag after the above and enter the following just before this

    <app sequence="9"/usr/share/applications/vncviewer.desktop</app>
