When I insert the SD card into the left expansion slot the card goes pretty deep in, only 1mm of it is sticking out. It also doesn't seem to have a push and out it comes mechanism like the 5 in 1 slot on the right. I had to use pliers to get it out.

    Is this normal?

No, mine has a "spring" so I just push it in and it comes out.

Same problem on my A1. Had to use my fingernails pretty bad to get it out. No problem if you're using it as permanent storage-expansion, but still pretty lame.

So, is this a defect? Or is it just that some has springs and some don't?

Try to push it in as far as possible, then push it once again to see if the spring mechanism work. If not, your unit is defective.

i pushed it in till only 1mm of it was sticking out and i tried to push it again to see if it will come out, but it just won't move. I put the same card in the right 5 in 1 slot and it springs out like it should so its not the card's problem.

When you put your SD card in the left expansion slot, how much of it is sticking out?

About 1mm. I just push it in, hear a clicking sound and the card pops out.

Take a look at this video I made just for you. ;)
