Laptop Freezes at X with only cursor moving

    I have a friend who recently purchased one of these Acers with Linspire Light.

    She says that the Laptop freezes when it gets to X and only the mouse is visible/moveable.

    I was wondering, is there a way to boot in to the command-line or even fix the problem?

    Pressing Control-Alt-F2 (together) should bring up a terminal. One of the first things I would try is typing "dmesg" and see if there are any messages.
