I want a cheap piece of hard plastic that can my AA1 can sit on.
A hard mouse pad might be big enough but I can't find one. :-(

    What do other people use?

I use a Targus open it is large enough to hold a mouse pad and large enough to fit comfortably across my lap.

Vinyl three-ring binder - tilts up the back when on the desk, the front when on the lap - air gap and cardboard inside heat sinks the laptop to reduce fan use. Vinyl grips the rubber feet. Use a little metal office clip to channel the power cord.

I use a lap-tray made by a company called 'Castle Melamine' It's basically a picture (of a pussycat  ) with a bean-bag fixed to the back. The soft back lets you adjust it to best angle even with your feet up, and there's room on the tray for a USB mouse as well. Cost me a pound from a car-boot sale.

One of the covers from an old 3 ring binder. It's a piece of heavy cardboard covered in vinyl. Allows air circulation under the AA1 for cooling.
