    Hi everyone,

I am a complete linux newbie, and prior to getting my AA1 at the end of last week have no Linux experience. I am trying to install a VPN client, and it wants to know what directory contains the linux kernel source code. Does anyone here know?

I'm having trouble with a similar install...perhaps the same install, haha.

I run the program, it says
    Code:
Dorectory where binaries will be installed [/usr/local/bin] //I press enter

Automatically start the VPN service at boot time [yes] //I press enter again

Directory containing linux kernel source code [/lib/modules/2.6.23.9lw] //I press enter and get this

    Making module
sh:/driver_build.sh: No such file or directory
    Failed to make module "cisco_ipsec.ko"
    [root@localhost ~]#

It doesn't matter if i change the directory to /usr/src/linux-2.6.23.9 or leave it, I still get the error. And the index "linux-2.6.23.9lw" doesn't exist, did I follow the steps incorrectly or does it not matter?

the directory should be called /usr/src/linux-2.6.23.9lw, you must have forgotten the 'mv' statement in step 4

shucks...well i think i'll just do another recovery and try it again. I don't know how to fix my mistakes so I think it's just best to start over instead of hacking myself into a corner...it's no loss anyway, I just did a recovery to get ubuntu off.sc

I guess there is also a cisco vpn client already installed, but I don't now how to use it. Any tips?

    Try
    Code:
    openvpn --help
The documentation is in /usr/share/doc/openvpn-2.1 or visit http://openvpn.net/

There's also the Cisco compatible VPN client vpnc which you must run with 'sudo vpnc'

But I have never used either of these so can't help further.
