KDE and 1024x600

I decided to wipe the default os and install my own custom install of debian. I usually use kde but now because of the 1024x600 res when ever I open up a window the buttons on the bottom of the windows go off of the screen. Very annoying! Anyway to force the windows to open up smaller or something?

Ok everything is better now that I have copied the xorg.conf file from the default linpus install. I guess it was the modeline parms that did it.
