    try this Vodafone driver ,

althought after "sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x1003"

alway prompt the "The device setup not completed"

    according to "blog.xuite.net/johnlin1958/ubuntu/17114993"

    also cannot use /dev/ttyUSB0 , ttyUSB1.....

    even can't check ppp option.

Is there any way to use my 3.5G modem easily ?

thank you for your reading my problem.

    Hi,

I try to make the modem work but is disappointing. I install the drive after doing a live update. But after that the modem is recognised as a storage device.
I have no idea how to fix that.

The Huawei E220 incorporates a flash drive which holds the drivers for XP, which is why you see it as a drive.

I wasn't sure exactly what the OP meant because the explanation was much more complicated than the Vodafone Mobile Connect Driver ought to be.

If you are running Ubuntu, you can use the Vodafone Mobile Connect Driver here https://forge.betavine.net/projects/vodafonemobilec/ which is very easy to setup.

If you are using Linpus, I don't know whether it will work (although I bet it will).

Well, the Vodafone Mobile Connect Driver was not funtion right.

    It may worked once.

But, After that (restart) UBUNTU 8.04.1 gave me the errors "The device setup not completed"

Maybe there is a guy who can rewrite these setup drivers for ubuntu

    http://www.emome.net/files/mobileintern ... 01B302.rar

just rewrite the install scripts for UBUNTU

If AO can't hook the 3.5G modem under Ubuntu .......

Should I change everyting back to Windows ?

    thanks for your suggestion,

    I put these setting:

    Add "/etc/udev/rules.d/99-huawei-e220.rules " which contain

    SUBSYSTEMS=="scsi" ATTRS{vendor}=="HUAWEI", OPTIONS+="ignore_device"

    But the problem remain

Vodafone report "The device setup not completed"

there is no other way to hang my E220 on AO except "Wvdial" ?

    "Wvdail" WOW!

the beautiful AO110 ,Ubuntu desktop, wallpapers and a command line utility "Wvdail"

    (even gnome-ppp can't work.)

How could I fix uo these errors?

    Did I miss something ?

The Vodafone drivers work impeccably on my Ubuntu machine but it's not a One (I'm still waiting for mine unfortunately) so much as I would like to help, I cannot do much more right now.

This will be one of the first things I do when I get mine but according to play.com, it's not due for another fortnight and I guess you don't really want to wait that long - sorry.

Has anyone had a look at http://www.nerdgirl.dk/linux/fc8/huawei_e220.php

My Three e220 does the green then blue flash, so I guess that is the first hurdle.
But the questions I have are :
on the One there is no ttyUSB0 shown, plenty of other usb items in /dev though. Any idea which usb device to use
Also as I am not a Linux bod, I cannot edit the wvdial.conf file, the system will not let me write the file back. file permissions I guess.
Calling wvdial on the usb devs returns a permission denied.
I understand the concept of what is required, it's just wrestling with the OS, that is "fun". I better get my Linux brain working soon, I am reading up on commands as I type :)

To use the Huaweii E220 , and some other 3G modems and PCMCIA cards download and install Vodafone Mobile Connect Driver for Linux , is very similar (best in my opinion) to the Windows APP that comes from Vodafone. Works great without using any command or script in the console, all graphic interface :)

    Download the "vodafone-mobile-connect-card-driver-for-linux-XXX-ALL-i386-installer.run" file
