Is it possible to add a 2gig Ram stick?

Title says it all.
Because my local store only have 2gig So-dimm .. so i wonder if its possible to add the 2gig stick?
How will it work? will i see the full 2.5 gig or i will only see 1.5gig? (maybe with a bios update?)

And another question, what is the exact ram type i can place in the spot? So-dimm?
