Internal mic. not working

I just bought the Aspire one, 1.0gb ram, 120gb HD, Windows XP home, SP3. I noticed the internal microphone is not recognized, only a mic. hooked to the external jack seems to work. I've searched prior posts and while this problem has occured before, no definitive solution is seen. The Realtek software and Windows itself shows the internal mic. as non-working.

Any solutions?
