Hi, I bought a new ASUS laptop late last year that had Win11 Home preinstalled. I am having an issue with it as it will not recognise my Epson Ecotank printer, either with USB cable nor with WiFi. When plugging in cable I get the BSOD but when unplugging it the device boots normally. WiFi is also not seeing printer which is literally a metre away. The BSOD error is System Service Exception wdf01000.sys.

With that in mind can I get a version of linux installed in place of Win11 that will enable all functions to work with regarding the printer and any other device I use in future?

If that is possible I will get someone else to install it.

    Cheers,

Switching to Linux could definitely solve some issues, as Linux often has better support for certain devices, including printers. You can install a version like Ubuntu or Fedora, which have good hardware compatibility. Just make sure your printer has Linux drivers, but most modern printers, including Epson, should work fine. If you're not familiar with installing Linux, it's best to get someone who knows their way around it, but it’s totally doable

Hi, I've contacted and been replied to by computer shop that they can install Linux for me. Definitely doable. I plan on getting Ubuntu as a dual boot. After using it for some time I plan on having Win11 removed completely and just run Ubuntu. Better than doing it myself. The charge is reasonable too @ $161 incl GST (NZ $).

Just on another note, are there versions of Ubuntu that come with a bucket-load of software?
