    Hej,

I downloaded Jabref, a bibtex database program, as a tar file but i don't know how to install it because it is not part of a package?
Does anyone know how to install new software?

I tried with yum, "Software installer" program,...

    Thanks for the help

ps: put Xfce4-appfinder under files, it helps me find installed programs.

You likely have a source file. the normal process is to extract it with tar, after which you navigate to the new folder in the terminal, read any readmes, and then compile it (usually with make). On the Aspire One, however, you are probably missing necessary libraries and can't install them because of Acer's proprietary stuff. Good luck.

You can probably find better instructions on a regular Linux help site, but like I said, it probably won't help much with the default acer/linpus install.
