Installing Amarok with mp3 support the easy way

this is how i managed to install Amarok on my out of the box AA1 in aprox 5 mins of tinkering time.

First step is to open the terminal.

Press alt+F2 and type: terminal hit enter.

Once in the terminal window insert:

    Code:
    sudo yum update fedora-release
    Hit enter.
When asked press Y until the update is done
When the system is updated it's time to get amarok.

    Code:
    sudo yum install amarok

When asked press Y until the install is done.
now you need to get the mp3/wma codex making amarok able to play all your files/internet radio etc.

    Code:
    sudo yum install amarok-extras-nonfree

when asked press Y until the install is done.
Now you have downloadet installet and updated amarok to play mp3

To access and open amarok u need to do one final thing.

Exit the terminal window and press ALT+F2

    Then type: xfce-setting-show hit enter.

in the appering window Left click on the Desktop icon.
In the Behavior tap u can choose Show desktop menu on right click.
choose it and close all open windows.

Now you can right click on the desktop and acess amarok in >multimedia>amarok

    enjoy!!!

Hope this guide helped. if nok let me know ;)

I quess I'm much bigger noob than you...

    terminal:
    [user@localhost ~]$ sudo yum install amarok-extras-nonfree
    audit_log_user_command(): Connection refused
    Setting up Install Process
    Parsing package install arguments
    No package amarok-extras-nonfree available.
    Nothing to do

What am I doing wrong? I tried to get mp3-codecs to Audacious too, but it says the same.

edit: I not sure what I did, but it seems like it's working now... Hip hip hooray!

i dont know what went wrong. did you live update your acer before trying to get the codex?

I did the install and update on a new acer with no other updates.

Did you sudo yum update fedora-release? to get more repositories?
