I have an Inspiron 600m with 512M of RAM (2x256). It has lubuntu installed on it and I only use it for playing around with linux and, if my Windows 7 machine is busy doing something so I can't use it, I use the Dell to get online. It's not impressive, to say the least, and I was wondering if increasing the RAM would help it.
I can get a 1GB RAM stick for around $15 so I have 2 questions:
    1) Would that really help an appreciable amount?
    2) If so, would it be okay to put a 1GB stick in there and leave one of the 256's, or should I put two 512's for a total of 1GB?

    Thanks a lot.

Okay, I checked out your link. Looks like, at the most, I could replace one of the 256s with a 512. :(
    thanks a lot.
