idiots guide to installing new progs?

i have no expirence with linux up till today, just got my One. I am trying to find out how to install a new prog and wondering if there is a good guide out there? Its songbird i am trying to install specifically! thanks in advance

Linpus is a Fedora branch, so the instructions should apply. Following the Songbird Requirements link that they mention reveals that Songbird's been tested on Fedora Core 5, so the omens are good for Linpus.

The one thing that's missing from the Fedora instructions is the icon file they suggest you download. However, the following link includes more help with downloading a suitable icon.

By the way, "[looking for] newbie's guide to installing songbird" might have been a better topic title, "idiot" is so emotive.
