    update to 10.6 maybe?
No point on being on 10.5.6 or any leopard variant imo.

If you're not comfortable on the command line to resolve issues I wouldn't do it. I consider it to work fine - but as I recall going from iDeneb 10.5.5 to 10.5.7, I had replace a few kexts - ACPI related, and maybe one or two others. Took me maybe 10 or 15 minutes. I never did update my iDeneb 10.5.7 to 10.5.8, but I imagine that would have worked. I replaced my HD around that time and decided to just do a fresh iAtkos 10.5.7, which updated to to 10.5.8 cleanly.

Even if you don't know how to fix it, just do a Time Machine backup first! Try it all out.. if it totally goes sideways just:

Reboot the DVD. Format your partition.
    Restore your TM backup. Reboot.
    Boot the DVD again.
    Install Chameleon / whatever bootloader.
    Reboot / Eject DVD.
    Boot into restored HD.
    Smile.
