Everything I've learned about computers I've learned from forums, and I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem.

My Dell Inspiron 5737 is probably about 11 years old, but it works really well, and I hate to dump something that should be fixable.

My laptop mouse and the touchpad have never gotten along. This goes beyond any
accidental dragging of my fingers over the pad while I'm typing. For most of this 11 year old's life, I've made the touchpad inoperable after every clean install. Mainly this worked via one Synaptic driver -- but not this time.

I don't want to waste anyone's time, so here's what I've tried so far: Everything. If it appears on the web, I've read it, tried it, and gotten nowhere.

What I really want is to kill my touchpad forever, and bury it on a galaxy far, far away. Anybody got any advice for me? Thanks so much.

    Hello, CherioSD!

What comes to muy mind is to watch an disassembly video and see how to disconnect the touchpad cable (It should be a small/thin cable just under the keyboard). This will disable it permanently :)

    Hope this solves your problem!
