I have a very slow running laptop Acer Aspire 5517 and have ordered a 2 gb memory module for it. I have been doing searches about how much I can add but find several different answers. some say 4 gb is maximum and others say up to eight. Does any one know for sure? Also I see the memory installed in this one consists of two single 1 gb sticks so if I want to add a 2 gb, for now, how do I go about it? I know there are but two slots available but is there any order the additional 2 gb should be put in? That will give a total of 3 gb will that work? Will my laptop recognize the new ram or must I do anything to install it? By the way I'm running windows 7 Home edition with service pack 1 and a 64. I know I seem to be a dummy on these topics but I'm learning. thanx

After doing some research, it seems that the max amount of RAM is 4Gb. As for the laptop being sluggish, try formatting your laptop and installing a plain fresh copy of Windows 7, rather than the one provided by the company, as it contains a lot of bloatware.
