Now that I have an almost perfect install that satisfies me I am interested in giving back to the os x on the aoa community or any other atom netbook.

I am thinking of making my own tutorial if people really want it.

I started by installing a 10.5.5 distro and i have the fallowing working:

    -Hyperthreading
    -SpeedStep
-auto audio switching between internal speakers and audio jack
-mic with volume control (I have not tested line in)
    -GPU
    -Extended desktop (no mirroring)
-wifi (I changed the wifi card but i think that it may be possible to use the card that comes with it and you guys can try what i tell you)
    -ethernet
-webcam at first boot up was working but i dont know how to try it out in os x (call me dumb)
    -tap to click
-ask me if there is anything else you need me to check.
-i don't know if the card readers work but good luck on the drivers that you guys are making.
    -parallels is very fast!
    -Shutdown
    -Restart
-NO SLEEP (it does not mater much cause it takes about 20 seconds to boot)
-Battery meter with time and percentage.

So just tell me that you guys want a tutorial and i will make one. I cant guarantee that it will be done fast but cause of college but i will try.
Or is everyone already settled in with their install?

I dont currently use OSX on the Aspire (mainly because my unit has the SSD) but I am tempted to purchase a hard drive based model just to make a sub-miniature MacBook.

Is there a way to write a script that can take a retail Leopard DVD and create a modified DVD from it, that way you could legally distribute your modifications. I'm thinking in a similar way to how customised linux distributions are made, on the way in which nLite will take a windows cd and made a customised version from it.

I was more excited about hyperthreading over speedstep because of the increase of speed.

Its totaly worth having the hard drive version. For one its faster than xp and is less buggy once it all works. I would love to write a script but idk where to start, I only know a few programing languages. But you could just install a retail dvd using what ever method that you want and then you could just take my compilation of fixes and kexts and you will be set. I wont distribute the DVD i used but i could tell you what DVD i took and that is XxX 10.5.5 i believe.

Also it does not take very long so if you nuke your install, it will take about 15 minutes of user input from the boot up of the install dvd to a working system.

I am currently typing on mine, its no hassle to take out from my bed and my iphone was bugging like mad.

    Edit:
-Battery meter with time and percentage. works great!

If it's instaltion form retail DVD I'm very interested in Hyperthreading and mic with volume control (if isn't noisy and finlay must be set to 0).
You wrote that ext. monitor works only as Extended desktop (no mirroring). Could you try pkg by Kamikaze? It's correct problem with mirroring and works great.

The install that i have is not from the retail DVD, but you can use it and you will just have to change the kernel to the voodoo kernel.

So there is a pkg for mirroring? I will try that when i get back home.

I just reallized something. You wont be able to use the retail disk unless you update and the patches.

I should make a proper test of the boot time instead of guessing.

i have a few grievences on my intall. one being the battery meter, second being that i have to type update -v if i want to boot into OSX. the third is the fact that there's no plug and play for large hds. if it is a flash drive, it will come right up but i have to restart if i want to read from a large hd.

any advice on those? they are all minor annoyances rather than problems so i can still use it.

What install method did you use?

My external 60gb hdd works great and so does my 1TB hdd. Usb keys work. Battery meter works too. for your update thing try "update -f -v".
