I cannot get my usb modem to connect on linux. It is recognised and shows a full signal but when I try to connect it just comes up with 'error' and asks me to re-try or cancel.

I have E220 from Vodafone. I use the Acer provided "MobilePartner". I did have to edit a file
(sorry not with it right now so cannot check) but google found it at a .za website. It was to
do with "broken USB sticks" and the hal daemon. Altough it is not his thread exactly it got
    me going on SuSE 10.3...
    http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=66785

I then had to edit the profile within MobilePartner to set an APN and username and password.
They are internet, username and password respectively.

I had tried the vcm from betavine but it never worked for me.
