I am using Mandriva with KDE 3.5.* but am thinking of trying KDE 4.1.2. Does KDE 4.1.2 work well on the Atom chip or are there speed issues? I know there's still bugs with 4.1.2 but am willing to give it a try.

Very good, not excellent... but very good. You won't really notice it slowing down anything unless you're multitasking alot for apps. Boot time is a bit longer, and GNOME still a bit snapier in comparison. Aside from that, it's still a joy to use. Tested using Mandriva 2009 KDE.

That is good to hear. I'm happy with the speed of KDE 3.5 and want to upgrade but don't want to take much of a speed hit.
