    Hi!

Just installed XP pro on my AAO 110. Everything works fine but i think xp is not recognizing my aao as a laptop cause theres no battery indicator in the system tray.

    How can i fix this?

IIRC, the battery indicator did not appear for me in Windows XP until I had installed the Intel Chipset drivers (you can download the correct drivers from the Acer Support site).

Another thing to try is to launch the "Power Options" Control Panel Applet and check the "Always show icon on taskbar" option on the "Advanced" tab.

Well... I have installed the intel chipset, and enabled that thing too.. BUT this is how it looks. Even if I dont have AC plugged in.

I just tried the chipset driver also to no avail. I enabled the show icon box, still nothing. I also can't get my volume icon to appear either. Come on Acer! This has not worked from day one.

Have you by any chance installed/uninstalled any fan control software, particular the ACPI patch? Patching the ACPI driver stopped the power icon working for me.

    Another thing to try:

    1. Bring up the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog by right clicking on the taskbar and selecting the "Properties" menu item.
    2. On the "Taskbar" tab, click the "Customize..." button at the bottom right.
    3. Check that the power and volume icons are not set to "Always hide".

I tried the task-bar thing as above. I've put the battery notification as 'never hide' but it's made no difference. Still no battery icon.

And the power scheme is set to portable laptop.

I've got my battery icon back! My partner found it for me. Log off and log on again - it refreshes the taskbar tray and returns my battery icon.

It is a well-known windows issue........
You have to uninstall "universal plug and play" in windows components - network services.
It does not affect anything, and fixes the icons in traybar.
Do not ask me why, but it works!!!!!!!

Well, I just tried this and the only missing icon that came back after a reboot was the volume one, I still had to log out then back in to get the battery icon back.
It's anybody's guess if any of them will be there on next boot.
