Is there a way I can get my mac to talk to my linux aspire 1 so I can copy files over my wireless network?
The only way I've been able to even see my ibook is by going into the printer setup. Just don't know how to get them to talk to each other.

Guess I will answer my own question. Using Skype will let me transfer large files to my mac. Yesterday I uploaded gigabytes of perhaps 40 movie files to my mac. It took forever, running all 40 file uploads at the same time! But it did the job. So now I use Skype to transfer large files because most web servers and email clients won't allow me to do that.
