The D255 topic proved most interesting, not least because it gave access to the D255 series Service Guide. This is very helpful but access to the AO722 Service Guide would be even better. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Thanks, but I'm really looking for the Service Guide for the 722. If it's anything like that for the D255, it will give me a fighting chance of servicing the 722 if I have a problem in the remote places that I tend to visit/stay.

There's no listings I can find on the internet for a AO722 service manual.

The most servicing type thing you can do is replacing the harddrive , ram , screen , or in extreme
circumstances, the dc jack connector, or bios chip.

The main thing is keeping the fan and vents clear.

Thank you. I have done all the searches and yet, it's out there, just as the Service Guide for the D255 is. There is a lot you can do with or without the Service Guide but it's easier with. I've serviced my own electronic equipment since the days when the Mullard OC71 was a 'hot' device and I'm not about to stop now.
