    Hi all,

What are your suggestions for optimizing the speed and performance of Linpus?

Just received my new AAO, 8GB SSD (the better Samsung version), 512MB RAM. I'm looking to just run a barebones install of Linpus, for the following purposes:
    1) Access the net. (Will install FF3 for this.)
    2) Check emails. (Will install Thunderbird for this.)
    3) Watch DivX movies. (Will install VLC for this.)
    4) Read PDFs. (Will install evince for this.)
    5) Wordprocessing. (Will keep OpenOffice 2.3.)
    6) and maybe some games

What have you all done to make the system quicker, especially improving SSD performance and longevity :?:

(With your permission I would like to turn all your advice into a post for the guidelines section at a later stage.)

    Thanks all!

Add 1gb of ram, turn off the swap file, claim back the swap partition.
    Run the custom desktop script.

Thanks sid! Not sure i feel up to the task of upgrading the memory yet, but I ran the desktop script by k0ro and it works great!

Does anyone else have any info they would like to share with us beginners on how to tweak linpus to make it run faster/safer/using less system resources/etc? :?:

    Thanks guys.
