I can open MP3 (music)files and JPG (photo) files on my Acer Aspire One ( linux-linpus).
I also tried to open a MP4 ( video ) file but it doesn't work.
I don't prefer to download other programs on my aspire.
Can I open the file if I convert it to another format ( avi ? mov? ) ?
There is a map "Video" on the aspire , so I suppose it's made to work with video files too!

    thanks for your help

Acer has not included copyrighted codecs on the One - which basicly means you can play almost no popular video format without adding support for them yourself.

Most people solve this by installing another mediaplayer. MPlayer and VLC are the two most popular choices.

For VLC you can find instructions here: http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/11/inst ... linux.html
If you prefer Mplayer, check here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3770#p25335

    Thanks for your help Grim.
I will install VLC player on the AA1.
Do I really have to remove the existant player , or is it just "recommanded".
I'm not a Linux specialist and I don't want to give wrong instructions tot my computer.

    thanks beforehand.

It is just "recommended" if you install vlc.
If one installs mplayer or smplayer, you overwrite parts of the existing player though.
