    Operating System: "Linux" Linpus Lite

Hello, my AA1 has just arrived and I am unable to connect to my home network as it uses mac address filtering as a security measure and I cannot work-out how to find the mac address of my device. When searching, I found a thread asking the same question, with the asker being told to use ipconfig. However, I am unable to find the terminal and searching the manual for the word gives no relevant results.

    Thanks in advance.

    If you're using windows:
click Start, then Run, then type "cmd" and press enter.
    thats the terminal.
in there you can type "ipconfig" and get the info you need.

Alternatively, right click the icon of the connection in the lower right corner of the bar, then choose Status.
In the Support tab you should be able to see all the details, including the MAC address...

    ..

edited: sorry I saw just now the first line in your post. Disregard my post please.

try looking in the "settings" group for the terminal window. and i believe for linux it's "ifconfig" and not "ipconfig"

    good luck.

The command you're looking for is ifconfig.

    Hey,
i know you found it, but incase anyone else comes to this board looking for the answer:

On the bottom-right of the screen, open "Preferences", then open "Network Centre".
You will then see the ethernet connection (LAN-0).
Click "New", and choose the "WLAN" network type.
After selecting your router and entering it's password (assuming it has one), hit "Next".
The Hardware Address shown is your Aspire One's MAC address, which you can then put into your router.

    Hope this helps someone.

Sorry, but I don't understand some of the previous posts on finding the MAC address. Go to lower right screen and click on preferences? Another post described finding the MAC by entering the terminal mode with alt F2 which didn't seem to work. Can someone lead me through this step by step? Thanks.

Never mind. I think I found it on my non AA1 machine by right clicking the video terminal icon on the task bar while connected as nmesisca explained. In the support tab it was described as the Physical Address. I couldn't seem to find it from the terminal mode using the ipconfig command, but oh well.
