How much RAM does a Linux AA1 need?

    If I add more than 512 MB, will I really get more performance?

    Yes.

    You will see that in any multimedia applications, TV if you use, OpenOffice will be faster. But for normal use performance is OK on standard RAM. With more RAM every machine will go faster but difference is not much visible - especially when distro is dedicated for machine.
