How much RAM can my OS handle

    Hi Guys,

    I have HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC. It has 2 slots of RAM.....!! One of them is 4GB. I want to upgrade the RAM by 8GB. Is it possible to install 8GB on the second slot... The total RAM will become 12GB(4GB+8GB). Can my OS handle this...??

    Kindly help me folks....!!!

    Configurations as follows:

    Operating System : Windows 7 Home Premium.
    Model : HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC
    Processor : Intel Core i5 - 2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz.
    System Type : 64Bit OS.

    Your specific model does support upto 16 GB of memory. The OS has nothing to do with it though - I mean existing OSs generally require 4GB or less, so you're good in that regard.
