Like many other AA1 users, mine suffered from the black screen of death. At seemingly random times and regardless of the charge remaining in the battery, suddenly the screen would go black whilst the power remained on, and absolutely nothing would restore the screen. I had to hold the power button to force a shutdown.

How did I solve it? I installed Ubuntu's Netbook Remix. More a circumvention than a solution, admittedly, but now I get two and a half hours of usage from my AA1 instead of an hour if I was lucky. And the UNR is miles better than Acer's shoddy implementation of Linpus anyway, in my opinion.
