    Hi,

I don't have an external DVD drive and I was wondering if it's possible to install retail 10.5.5 using just a USB Flash Drive.

How would I go about this? I know how to make an .iso, but I don't know how to make USB to boot it? How do I boot it?

Anyone with a step by step tutorial since the ones on here require an external DVD drive to be hooked to the AA1.

    Thanks.

Sorry if I missed something, but what is the advantage (if any) of running this over something like iATKOS 5i? Does _everything_ work with this?

Alright I'll try it when I get back home.

I changed the append biosdev with the same results, which still led to the chainloader crashing (when that USB stick was inserted without the 8gb mac stick)

But, when both usb sticks inserted -> I just get the cursor.

I'll try your suggestion of changing the boot order.

If that doesn't work, what could be the problem?

    Thanks.

    hi gastrogeek

    i changed the boot order
now i'm prompted by startup volume hd (0,1)

    then I press escape

and it asks for two digit hexadecimal boot device [80]:

    when i press 81

i'm prompted with hd (1,1) Leopard

boot: enter -> than it says apple.boot.plist not found

    if i press esc

and press 82 then I am prompted with my four partitions -> i select the mac osx partition then it freezes when calling chainbooter.

Finally I got it , I have Aitkos in my Acer 110 , but I have a big problem with it. I need to have plugged the main usb stick in order to boot.
If I don't , the horrible message "no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" , so I have to plug the usb stick , make reset and type cpus=1 if I want to run my installed leopard.

I forgot I used two sticks to install it , one of them to start and the other one with restored aitkos.

    Any suggestion about it?

Thank you to everybdy and I'd like to apologize about my english but it's not my native language.

    I opened a terminal ,typed :

Under the "Utilities" menu, open "Terminal".
Issue "diskutil list". My hard disk showed up as /dev/disk0, and my install partition is /dev/disk0s2
    Issue "diskutil unmount /dev/disk0"
    Issue "fdisk -e /dev/disk0"
Issue "f 2", where 2 comes from "/dev/disk0s2". The response back is "Partition 2 marked active".
Issue "w". The response back is "Writing MBR at offset 0."
    Issue "q". Fdisk exits.
Quit the Terminal program, and Quit the installer.

    and I installed it again.

I must type "cpus=1" and the begining of the boot, anyone knows how I can avoid this?
