Help required to unlock a laptop

Hi all, newcomer to this forum, looking for advice. I have acquired a [B] Compaq Presario CQ62[/B] laptop whilst in France ( French model approx 2010?) & it has a password lock which I don't have access to. I want to sell this laptop but figure it will be more desirable if unlocked & with a clean memory so I would like to get into it. It appears to be in excellent condition. Any help would be much appreciated...thanks in advance.
