Don't know what to buy. Have to replace laptop for work as a teacher. I have looked at ASUS and Lenovo and one other but I'm not sure what to do. Should I be going for a bigger intel i5 or i7 or a bigger SSD (128GB or 256) and what models? Liked the feel of Lenovo or Asus? Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

Welcome to the laptop forums site

The main things to way up are what are your requirements now, and into
    the near future

You will need a better graphic card if you going to run graphic hungry
    programs, cad design, games etc.

Be careful the higher cpu numbers may be leading you in to a false sense
of security an example of this could be that a i3 may well out perform
    an i5,or i7 cpu.

Here's a link to a web site that will allow you to compare the cpu's

    www.passmark.com

Next a ssd drive will only improve the response time a little other things
    are more important.

It's a case of doing a little more homework on the laptop specs
    sorry to say.
