    Guys,

    Please help me!!

I'm trying to install XP on my AAO which originally has Linpus installed.
I don't need to dual boot or anything like that, just XP.

I've tried following the guides on here to install from USB Key (as i dont have USB CD/DVD) and get through the first section of partitioning the drive (so i now have an empty formatted NTFS HDD) and then when i reboot into the GUI mode to continue the the setup.

This is where i get stuck, it gives me a dialog box saying that the file ASMS is can't be located, and it prompts me to enter the location of the file/folder.

I can't figure out whats going on and why im getting the error, as when i look on the USB key (on another PC) it shows the ASMS folder on there.

Can anyone suggest what i need to do please?
I'm ready to give up, which will be a shame because i don't really want to run linux.

Somewhere else on these forums I read that the "Key" was using a U3 technology enabled flash drive. Don't know why, but the U3 seems to make a difference. Anyone not familiar with U3 technology should look into one for many reasons. It allows you to run MANY apps such as Firefox, Thunderbird, virus programs, games, etc right from the flash drive.

I doubt that U3 makes a difference, as "U3 Technology" is actually a Windows-specific technology, meaning it doesn't change anything about the actual BIOS<=>USB<=>HDD interactions during an OS install.

I'm curious if anything else might solve the "asms" problem, though, as I'm still having it. Actually, I was able to one install from this USB key before on an identical Aspire (I bought two), and only the second host is giving me this error. I've tried re-imaging the USB key too (with the exact same image I used the first time, of course), but I get the ASMS error no matter what. Perhaps there is a BIOS update required or something?
