I bought an aspire one PC and installed Debian unstable Gnome system in it (I tried xfce4 but same problem). Every thing is working fine out of the box but the system is very slow. I noticed that the hard disk led is on most of the time even if I am not doing any thing and while not connected to the net. I followed all the recommendations on Debian wiki http://wiki.debian.org/DebianAcerOne but no success. I run TOP to see the swap usage but it was nill and just ~50% of the PC ram is used.

My system bios was 3109 upgraded to 3305, original ram was 512mb but now 1gig, hard disk is 8 gig.

    Can you help me?
