I saw that the AA1 has a glossy screen. How bad is the glare? I never understood why laptop manufacturers went into the glossy screen business, it seems such a stupid idea, but... What's your experience?

Haven't really noticed any problems myself when it comes to glare.

It's a decent well lit screen ... not sure glare is an issue. Looks far more 'glarey' with the machine switched off though ... but once on it's a great screen at this price-point.

It's "glossy," but I really haven't had any glare problems, even when in icky flurorescent light situations. I think the screen's more than bright and vivid enough to overcome any of that (I almost always run it at the minimum brightness).

The glare doesn't bother me, but then again I don't work in an environment where sunlight shines directly on it. In that case, I might find some issue with it. Coming over from a laptop with a matte (non-glossy) screen, at first things were a bit annoying but I got used to it. The glossy screen is used, I believe, to make colours appear more vibrant...

You will be pleased... like you I was debating over getting the AAO for a while but I haven't had any regrets since picking one up. :)
