Fujitsu Auto-Rotate Not Working

I've had my Fujitsu Lifebook T732 running Linux Mint for a few years now- one of my favorite features is that it is a 2-in-1 laptop that makes a decent tablet when I need one. A few months back, the auto-rotate function seemed to randomly stop working. I ran monitor-sensor and the output said there was no accelerometer connected, even though the auto-rotate function had been working fine up until then. I tried booting from a flash drive, same issue. I tried swapping the daughterboard the accelerometer/gyro is on, same issue. I found out that the accelerometer is driven through an STM32F103 if that helps. I'm not sure how to proceed here- should I be looking for drivers or a deeper hardware issue?

Here are a couple of quick fixes you can try for Fujitsu auto-rotate not working:

1. Check Windows Settings → Go to Settings > Display > Display orientation and make sure "Rotation lock" is off.
   
   
2. Update Drivers → Open Device Manager and update the Sensors/Accelerometer driver (sometimes listed as “Kionix” or “Intel Sensor”).
   
   
3. Fujitsu Utility/Tablet Buttons → Ensure you have the Fujitsu Hotkey Utility and Display Manager installed, since they control auto-rotate.
   
   
4. Reboot / BIOS Check → A reboot sometimes resets the sensor. If not, check in BIOS that the auto-rotate/accelerometer sensor is enabled.

If none of these work, reinstalling the Fujitsu drivers from their support site usually fixes it.
