I followed the directions for installing firefox 3 and it worked well.

Problem is that I like firefox 2.0 better!

How can I get back to 2.0 without a complete system restore?

    Thanx,
    Mike :)

You're right there was a mistake. Also for reverting back to FF2 you only need to enter the last two lines, you don't need to go through the whole process again.

tried reinstalling firefox 3 because I was curious to check something, and when I get to the following command:

    sudo mv firefox /opt

I get a connection refused error, or I get a no such directory error. sometimes both, also I don't have to enter my password like I did before.

is there something inherently different about the command "sudo" that makes things different?

trying to learn linu here

The sudo error is a bug, can be ignored. The 'directory missing' error: mv means move, so when you move the directory it cannot be moved a second time since it's not in the first place anymore.

I still can't get it to work but NO WORRIES! I just extracted the bz2 file and overwrote the main firefox folder under /home/user and it worked great!

I love learning new $tuff, linux is kinda neat but a bit more difficult than brainless windows....

Thanx again, it is people like you who make the gadget community so much more lively and interesting for tweakers and fiddlers like me :)

    Mike

EDIT: great, now I have to right click the desktop and choose "internet browser" to get firefox to open.

is there a way to get the desktop link to work?
