Freezing and sound looping

Hello fellow Acer users
I hope that I'm posting in the right section and that there is someone generous here who could help me : )
I recently bought Acer Aspire One and I'm interested in playing some classic games on this new joy of mine. I installed Arcanum, Planescape: Torment and Abe's Oddysee. However, there seems to be a problem connecting all these games - all of them freeze up the computer leaving the sound that was playing for like 0.5s to loop for ever and ever. Now, I've read somewhere that these games are compatible, aren't they? (If they weren't, I think not all of them would freeze, some maybe crash, some lag, right? But all three of these different games just freeze like there's some kind of a memory leak) If yes, then what could be the problem?
