    HOSTING RECOMENDATIONS

Could members who have received excellent service recommend their hosting companies

North Hosts uk can be found either online or via the cheaper way on ebay.
I have found then very helpful, “and reliable” with great prices.

Another good tool (for Windows users) is WebMatrix from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/web/webmatrix/

It's mainly useful for people designing websites that require you to have PHP or other programming languages, as you can then easily test them on your local machine. It uses IIS and has loads of plugins for MySQL, PHP, ASP, etc... to get you started :).

Thanks a lot, I bookmarked the first link :) As for host companies, I have heard there are several cheap ones in the Netherlands, as long as they offer me support with my blog everything will be ok ;) I'm thinking of hosting blogger based blog or maybe a WP one later on about nail art :) I just need help with the set up of my blog, I've heard some hosting companies help you with that.

I have a question for anyone who knows the answer. @something back I'll address it to you, since you started the thread, but anyone else feel free to jump in. Does it matter where the host companies are located? I'm in the U.S., and does that mean that I would need to use a host company located here in the U.S.? I have no idea how these things work, but am considering creating or having a website created in the future, so am starting to think about such things. Thanks in advance.

No it does not matter which country you choose.

The only consideration is which extension you require.

    Example :

com , org ,net , and others, some will be cheaper like co.uk in the .U.K.

You can save money having a package that includes the domain name, and

hosting, you can take out a two year package if required.

If you think that your web site is going to become a market leader then choose

more domain names to protect your product.

An example would be to reserve all of the com, net , and org names of your web site

I am using both Blogger and Wordpress for my websites. I bought two domain with GoDaddy and Blogger hosts my blogs. As for Wordpress, I use the free one since it serves as fun place for me to post my pictures of nature.

You all probably know this already and that if you have issue on Blogger, it is a drag to find help!

Thanks, that's definitely helpful information to have. I'd like a .handmade extension, or perhaps, .artisan :) I think that'd be a nice way to separate out the mass manufactured items from handmade, although I'm sure eventually they would pervade that, too.
