    Hi ,

I just picked up an Aspire One (512 / 8g ssd) as a gift.
I also picked up an 8G SD card which I want to fill with music for the gift recipient.

    Any advice on

    (1) How to format the SD card without opening the AspireOne box ? I have a windows machine available - Maybe a Linux LiveCD or a windows tool ?

    (2) How to structure the folders / album art to maximise the ease of use in Media Master ?

    Thanks !

    Mark.

How would you connect it to the other computer? I have not seen any external ZIF connectors.

    sorry

it's not an SSD card, it's an SD card - just a stoopid typo (repeated 3 times .... )

I've edited the original post to suit.

Don't you want to make sure the computer at least works before you give it as a gift? I also bought one for a gift, and I opened up the computer and made sure it works.

Anyway, if you have another pc with an sd reader, just load the music on the card in folders. Doesn't much matter about the order as the mp3 player software will read them regardless.

Brian - Opening the box would be deadly for me - I'd never put it back down again

OK - so Media Master reads the MP3 tags and ignores the folder structure - good to know - thanks Brian.

How about formatting the SD card - do you need to format it or can you just use it straight out of the box ?

It should have come be FAT-formatted and ready to be written to. When you plug it in to your Windows machine (either directly or through a card reader), just open My Computer to verify.

ahaha I know what ya mean mate :p

SD cards are formatted FAT and SDHC are FAT. So just write to it in a windows/linux machine :)
